BARRIO LATIN SOUL – Soul & Disco meets Cuban Mambo!
1960s & 70s Latin Soul, Latin Disco and Boogaloo with 11-piece band featuring vocalists Carl ‘The Reverend’ Fidler & Richard Valdez!
Following fantastic dance nights at Camelot ‘Barrio Latin Soul’ returns to transport you to the barrios of New York for some smooth Soul, funky Latin and groovy Disco celebrating 1960s and 70s Latin Soul, Latin Disco and Boogaloo.
Fusing African American R&B and Soul with Mambo and Cuban Son Montuno and mainly sung in English, the Latin Soul and Boogaloo movement in the 1960’s had a huge influence on the growing Salsa scene in the 1970’s.
The unique funky 11-piece all-star band ‘Barrio Soul’ celebrates the era in style and features members of well-known groups, Mucho Mambo, Watussi, El Orqueston, Johnny G and the E types, Hi-Tops Brass Band, Cumbiamuffin and Son Veneno and will bring some serious Soul, Latin and Disco grooves from artists such as Mongo Santamaria, Joe Bataan, Joe Cuba, Tito Puente, Ray Barretto and Pete Rodriguez.
