Chase The Sun with Special Guests

Rhythm Section presents Loud Sunday at Crow Bar with Chase The Sun and special guests Claude Hay & The Kungfu Mustard, Necko, and Immortal Within.

It’s been a few drinks since blues rock shredders Chase The Sun made it to Sydney’s inner west. That’s changing as they bring a cranking line up to Crowbar on Sunday 14^th July from the very civilised time of 2pm.

Sydney’s kings of epic blues-rock shred Chase The Sun have become somewhat of a cult band of late, with their powerhouse live show becoming harder and harder to find in recent years – the boys in the band opting to become spectators in the race for fame and fortune. Guitarist Jan Rynsaardt is recognised by aficionados as one of Australia’s best, and the band combine elements of acoustic blues, stoner rock Psychedelia and Stevie Ray Vaughn boogie into a sound that quickly established them as crowd and critic favourites at festivals all over the country when they hit the scene back in 2007. 2024 sees Chase The Sun back in the hot seat, with a national tour and new music on the horizon – this is a show not to be missed by lovers of loud guitar blues, blazing hard funk played with a cranking 70’s southern rock feel.

Claude Hay and The Kung Fu Mustard 

Claude Hay leaves a 10 year career as the ultimate one man band solo artist to become the Trio ‘Claude Hay and The Kung Fu Mustard’. The new band takes its cues from old school funk rock, one of Claude’s first musical loves, and will take the dance floor up a notch at his already heaving shows.

Necko

Sydneysiders Necko deliver a rush of nostalgia: dynamic classic rock that combines pulsating grooves, wailing choruses and elaborate instrumental breakdowns reminiscent of British blues-rock linchpins circa late ‘60s to early ‘70s.

Selling out shows in their hometown set the group up for their debut release: Page-esque riffed ‘Wicked Woman’, which arrived in 2023. Starkly contrasted numbers ‘You Don’t Gotta Be Alone Anymore’ and ‘Animal’ followed shortly thereafter, displaying a diversification in retro-rock themes to tease their eponymous debut EP, which was mixed by Grammy-winning producer Al Sutton [Greta Van Fleet – From the Fires].

Immortal Within

Immortal Within, a dynamic heavy metal instrumental duo hailing from the picturesque Blue Mountains, is the brainchild of Lyric Silk on guitar and Lenny Van Gennip on drums. Despite their tender ages of 16 and 15 respectively, their music resonates with seasoned skill and raw energy. Their electrifying debut at Sydney’s Metro in Nov 2023, supporting Sunk Loto, marked their arrival onto the live scene. Since then, they’ve ignited numerous youth gigs, captivating audiences with their ferocious sound. Anticipation brews as they gear up for the release of their debut single “Butterfly Riot,” promising a sonic storm on the horizon.
