As one of the greatest pianists in history, Rachmaninoff showcased his enormous understanding of piano technique through his 2 sets of Études-Tableaux. Combining virtuosity with imaginative musical portraits, these Études are among the greatest works in the genre, and undoubtedly a testimony of the pianistic development in the early 20th Century – the “Golden Age of Pianists”.
