CUMBIAMUFFIN with Special Guests

Cumbiamuffin is due to perform once again to Sydney’s audience making their return to The Great Club in Marrickville. If you’ve come to one of our previous shows at this excellent venue, you know you are in for a good night!!!

15-piece Orchestra Cumbiamuffin brings the energetic, joy-filled rhythms of Latin American Cumbia, performed by Australia’s most established and favourite orchestra of Colombian and Australian musicians. They come from sold-out performances at Sydney Festival last 3 years in a row and performing at some of Australia’s most renowned festivals.

Cumbiamuffin’s hotshot horn section, percussionists and Colombian singers Angela Rosero and Alfonso Mosquera generate an infectious wall of sound, melding Caribbean elements of Ragga and roots with the big band, dance floor swing of pure Latino Cumbia.

Cumbiamuffin was created by trombonist Mike Raper – the musical leader of the band – and Colombian-born guitarist Carlos Arango to bring together top musicians from Australia and Colombia and introduce Australian audiences to the addictive, high energy, big brass band live sound of Cumbia.

The group has kickstarted dance floors at festivals across Australia, including, Tropfest, Manly Jazz Festival, Darling Harbour Fiesta and the iconic Sydney Festival.
