Darren Cross is best known for his band Gerling and more recently with folk duo ‘Jep and Dep’, solo and the D.C Cross folk solo guitar project, which he will be performing under for his first live show since Covid.
Darren under the D.C Cross solo folk guitar project brings in different folk guitar picking compositions and open tunings in the orbit of John Fahey, Bert Jansch, Nick Drake and even Thurston Moore but uniquely his own story, “escapist pieces for the guitar”.
Rhythms magazine said “influences at play – Bert Jansch, John Fahey, Leo Kottke – the titans of the American Primitive scene who progressed acoustic guitar playing from classical, folk and psych into new areas, as well as newer progenitors such as Ryley Walker and Steve Gunn”.
Special guest for the night will be the sublime singer Jessica (Cross’s Jep and Dep partner in crime). She has just released her stunningly beautiful debut album ‘The Space Between” during Covid times, with the Rolling Stone magazine saying “The Space Between’ Is a Masterclass of Ethereal Brilliance”, and Rhythms magazine compared her voice to Beth Gibbons (Portishead), Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins) and Aldous Harding.
Darren will be selling a special edition vinyl copy of his sophomore D.C Cross album “Ecstatic Racquet’ on the night and also playing tracks off his latest album ‘Terabithian”.
