Homegrown Concert Series at Tallawoladah Lawn (in front of the MCA) – a celebration of local Australian music, where you can lounge on the grass and sing along to your favourite songs, including a few unique renditions of Christmas classics.
Jess Beck (3:30pm-4:15pm)
Jess Beck is an indie pop singer-songwriter, known for her work as the lead vocalist of Pirra. Proud of her Luritja Nation heritage, she is now pursuing a solo career and collaborating with James McKendry, who brings his songwriting and production skills to the project. This partnership showcases their artistic growth and dedication to authentic storytelling, resonating with fans who appreciate music infused with emotional depth, thanks to McKendry’s skilful guitar work and Beck’s syrupy vocals.
Ruby Jackson (4:30pm-5:15pm)
Described as ‘the little black dress in your wardrobe, an instant classic,’ Sydney based songwriter, producer and performer Ruby Jackson has positioned herself at the heart of the Australian R&B/Jazz scene. Her unique blend of classic and contemporary sounds has garnered praise from critics and fans alike. Since graduating from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Ruby has been making waves in the Australian music scene. Her singles, “Out of Fashion” and “Guilty Pleasure,” have received airplay on Triple J and other major radio stations, solidifying her position as a rising star. With her soulful vocals and innovative production, Ruby is set to captivate audiences worldwide.
Natalie Slade (5:30-6:30)
Internationally acclaimed songwriter and soul vocalist, Natalie Slade, is an artist born through chance meetings, earthquakes and sonic healing. Natalie records with some of the most respected names in music including J Dilla collaborator Steve Spacek, Australian hip-hop royalty Katalyst and three-time Grammy nominated R&B artist Simon Mavin of Hiatus Kaiyote who produced her debut album ‘Control’.
