Kae Tempest
Description
Making their Sydney Opera House debut as part of WorldPride, gifted British polymath Kae Tempest brings their extraordinary spoken-word performance to the Concert Hall for one night only.
South London’s spoken-word sensation makes their Sydney Opera House debut
A multi-talented performer whose work ranges across poetry, fiction, theatre, spoken-word and hip-hop, British artist Kae Tempest is one of the most extraordinary and acclaimed talents of their generation, nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize, the Ivor Novello Award, and the winner of the Ted Hughes Award for innovation in poetry. As part of Sydney WorldPride, Tempest will perform for the very first time at the Sydney Opera House, bringing their transformative live show to the Concert Hall for one unmissable night.
As dazzling as they are prolific, Tempest came up as a rapper on the British spoken-word circuit before winning the Ted Hughes Award for their epic poem, Brand New Ancients. Their first two albums, 2014’s Everybody Down and 2016’s Let Them Eat Chaos, were nominated for Mercury Prizes, and their debut novel, The Bricks That Built the Houses, became a Sunday Times bestseller in 2017.
Tempest’s latest record, 2022’s watershed The Line is a Curve has been hailed as their most powerful work to date, a deeply vulnerable and personal album that the NME called “a direct and dazzling step forward, and a shining example of the power in emotional exploration.” Tempest will be performing tracks from the album, which features collaborations with Lianne Le Havas, Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract and legendary producer Rick Rubin.
A spoken-word sensation that will leave you transformed by the power of personal catharsis.
