Beginning with a rarely played early Mozart Piano Concerto in the composer’s own arrangement for piano and string quartet followed by Tchaikovsky’s great String Quartet No. 1 in D, the concert concludes with one of the greatest of all piano quintets by Shostakovich. This is a program not to be missed as we say farewell to an important Australian Quartet as part of their final season in a special celebration of old friends.
