A legend whose career spans more than five decades, virtuoso Lebanese composer, singer, oud player and humanitarian Marcel Khalifé is an innovator in Arabic music, drawing upon traditional forms and blending Western elements to create a sound that has captivated audiences around the world.
For the first time in a decade, the iconic musician – dubbed by the Los Angeles Times as “the Dylan of Lebanon” – is returning to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, where he’ll be joined by his son, the acclaimed pianist and composer Rami Khalifé, for one very special performance that brings together the past, present and future of Arabic music.
Bridging East and West, and showcasing musical traditions while looking to the future, Legacy will feature a mix of Marcel’s revered classics and new arrangements alongside Rami’s original compositions, telling the story of a father and son who found solace in music in a time of exile.
