Natalie Dietz CD Release “CASUALTY” (NYC)

past event

Description

Jazz composer and vocalist Natalie Dietz has made a strong impression on the Australian and international jazz scene impressing both audiences and critics with her ethereal vocal tone and original approach to songwriting. A graduate of the jazz vocal program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Natalie then left for the USA to study at New England Conservatory where she worked with some of today’s most forward-thinking contemporary jazz artists including Donny McCaslin, Jason Moran, and Dave Holland. She has performed extensive jazz club residencies around Manhattan.

She now brings the first full expression of her artistry through Casualty- a nuanced collection of original music and the first music release since a 4-track promotional EP recorded with USA artists Aaron Parks, Joshua Crumbly, Justin Brown, and Mike Moreno. The release was awarded an ASCAP national young jazz composer’s award presented at New York’s Lincoln Center.

The exciting new ABC Jazz release, commissioned by the ‘Fresh Start’ fund is an introspective collection of thoughtful songs which combine lush melodies with deft harmonic underpinnings. Tonight’s band will bring together a stellar lineup of some of Sydney’s most progressive jazz musicians for an exciting night of original music.

“In the clotted deluge of jazz vocals, Dietz’s offering floats to the top by virtue of its light touch and grace”– All About Jazz (USA) – FOUR STARS

“Natalie Dietz is an incredible singer with a beautiful, clean and warm tone quality in tune with a sense of space and phrasing. She’s supported by some of my favorite young lion musicians and the result is outstanding. This music absolutely needs to be heard”– Lionel Loueke (Blue Note USA)  “Dietz’ music is a delicately fragrant and atmospheric, a new brand of jazz perfume, wafting and seeping into one’s consciousness”– The Australian Stage – FOUR STARS
