past event

Description

Nick Vulture (SA) + Abigail Wighton (DOUBLE BILL)

Nick Vulture (SA)  With this solo acoustic venture, Nick Vulture has moved into territory that couldn’t be any further removed from his roots in the garage punk scene of Adelaide with his band The Molting Vultures.

This is gritty acoustic folk done raw & stripped back to its very core. It taps into the emotions of someone searching for answers & questioning everything. The songs are deeply personal but also universal in that they reflect the general fragility of the human condition with all of its uncertainty, its cruelty & its beauty.

Taking his cues from artists such as Conor Oberst, Bob Dylan, Justin Townes Earle, John Prine & Phoebe Bridgers, Nick has been honing his skills across Australia & has played The Semaphore Music Festival (twice) in Adelaide, the Adelaide Fringe (2022) as well as the best venues in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Hobart, Perth, Sunshine Coast & Cairns.

Nick’s 2022 album Dust Off The Trails, charted nationally on the AMRAP charts for 5 weeks straight & 6 weeks locally in SA on Three D radio. Nick was also a People’s Choice finalist in the Folk Alliance Australia national awards in 2022.

Abigail Wighton  Abigail is an indie-folk singer-songwriter based in Sydney on Gadigal land. She writes & performs heartfelt honest songs about love, loss, climate change, mental health & women’s empowerment. She has been likened to Missy Higgins, Joni Mitchell & The Staves.

In 2019, she proudly released her debut EP, ‘interwoven’ which reflects on the highs & lows, beauty & sadness of life. In March 2022 she followed up with a dual single: ‘Known’ featuring ‘More Than You Know’ & ‘Fully Known’.

Abigail regularly plays in Sydney & surrounding regions. Her favourite performances include: Illawarra Folk Festival, Newstead Live, Quinty Folk Festival, Summer Hill Folk Festival, Petersham Bowling Club & the Courtyard Sessions at the Seymour Centre.
