Triplespeak proudly presents Steve Balbi ft. The Black Rainbow Band – Live ‘n’ Electric – for one night only at Paddington RSL on Saturday the 29th of May, supported by two of Sydney’s most exciting and equally enlightening songwriters, musicians and performers, Little Green & Gia.
Celebrating the release of the new single ‘Sorry’, from the new record I Think I Know For Sure, Balbi will perform an exclusive show with his full band, live ‘n’ electric. Featuring a set of songs that includes highlights from his new record, alongside reimagined out-takes from a colourful catalogue of words and music that includes Noiseworks, Electric Hippies, 1980s new-wavers Mi-Sex, and more.
Sprinkled with a cacophony of musicians that transcend the meteorological phenomenon, Balbi’s Black Rainbow Band presently features Jak Housden (The Whitlams, Tim Minchin) on guitar, Dario Bortolin (Baby Animals, Andrew Farriss) on bass, Scott Aplin on keys ‘n’ synth, and the masterful Pete Drummond (Dragon, Eerie) on drums.
The COVID takedown has meant many things to many people. For the creative chameleon, Steve Balbi, it was time to peel-back yet another layer of skin to reveal an entirely new pigment – an iridescent sunburst that is orange in colour, melody and tone – taking time in his home studio to compose a new fabric of songs, I Think I Know For Sure, which is avilable now on CD and Limited Edition 12” vinyl.
