STEVE LACY
Description
Grammy-winning R&B superstar plays his only Australian Headline shows
The last two times R&B superstar Steve Lacy toured Australia, in 2020 and 2022, the scene was near pandemonium: sold-out shows, upgraded venues, and fan hysteria befitting the Californian polymath’s breakout pop moment. Now, following the chart-topping success of last year’s Gemini Rights and its Billboard number one smash “Bad Habit”, Lacy makes his triumphant return to Australia, playing two sure-to-be-sold-out nights in the Concert Hall for his Sydney Opera House solo headline debut.
Lacy made his first Sydney Opera House appearance in 2019 as part of the hip-hop collective The Internet, a band he joined in 2015 on the Grammy-nominated album Ego Death. He has since collaborated with the high-profile likes of Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Solange and Tyler, the Creator, and released his Grammy-nominated full-length debut, Apollo XXI, in 2019. In 2022, he crashed the Billboard top 10 with the slinky guitars and ecstatic falsettos of Gemini Rights, while the album’s hit single “Bad Habit” became one of the year’s defining smashes. With his silky sonics and irrefutable Compton cool, Lacy is set to be one of the summer’s hottest tickets.
