Amping it all the way up with a refreshed sound, indie rock four piece The Shang return with a new single “Here I Stand” out Thursday 22nd April, 2021 via Waratah Records.
“Here I Stand” is first studio release for 2021 and brings a new breath of life into the bands sound. Additionally, The Shang have announced two launch shows to coincide with the release happening 1st May in Sydney and 6th May in Wollongong. “Here I Stand” is a dynamic journey of swirling lows and mammoth highs that brings Zac’s strongest vocals to the table.
In the middle of the global pandemic, The Shang didn’t even think to take their foot off the pedal, releasing three singles and an EP, ‘Tales Of the Wild South West’ and performing multiple Sydney shows. triple j unearthed labeled them ‘straight up and full of assurance’, while HAPPY MAG said they are ‘equiped with dirty tones, pulsing bass, and agile drumming’.
Bassist, Aiden says, ‘we wanted to write a song to highlight the struggle to be present and mental toll it takes worrying about what has happened and what is yet to be. “Here I Stand” is about how I wish we could be more carefree and feel more like a young person is ‘supposed’ to feel in their youth.’
The song doesn’t end on a low note though, ‘in a sense I know that how we stress about things isn’t a good thing, though it can and has led to good things. It’s just about channeling that into a positive way’ says Aiden.
