After a sold out debut at Foundry616 Jazz Club Motown & Beyond return for a 3rd show. M & B is a 7-piece Sydney-based band featuring an amazing talent lineup several whom graduated from The Conservatorium of Music, alumni players bringing to life all your favourite soul, R&B, funk and pop classics.

The band celebrate music from the Motown/Stax era (1961-1971), including greats such as Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Eddie Floyd, Grover Washington, The Temptations, James Brown as well as later artists inspired by the Motown style such as Eric Clapton, The Doors, Bryan Ferry, The Rolling Stones, Human Nature, Gloria Gaynor, Tina Turner and Amy Winehouse.

Originally Motown music was specifically written and mixed to sound good on car radios (in Detroit where the style was born) and is characterised by a thumping back beat which made everyone want to get up and dance.

The band goes ‘beyond’ Motown to play soulful tunes, high-energy songs with dazzling vocals, cool songs that will make you want to get up and dance, tap your feet or sing along, or just relax and enjoy your favourite songs from the ‘60’s, 70’s through to recent pop classics.
